Amprolium hydrochloride 452 mg
(Equivalent to amprolium base 400 mg)

Properties

Amprolium is an anticoccidial agent that acts as a competitive inhibitor of thiamine in the parasite metabolism, and interferes with the metabolism of glucides necessary for coccidian multiplication and survival. In-vitro studies showed that the uptake of thiamine by schizonts of Eimeria tenella and by host intestinal cells can occur through passive diffusion or by an active, energy- and pH-dependent process. Amprolium competitively inhibits both systems; however, the parasite is more sensitive to amprolium than the host. Drug resistance develops very slowly. It is rapidly and completely absorbed in the duodenum and spreads quickly in the blood to reach therapeutic concentrations in a short time. It is active against Eimeria spp. in chickens (E. tenella, E. acervulina, E. maxima, E. brunetti & E. necatrix) as well as in turkeys (E. adenioides, E. dispersa, E. gallopavonis, and E. meleagrimitis).

الأمبروليوم هو مضاد للكوكسيديا يعمل كمثبط تنافسي للثيامين في أيض الطفيل، كما يتداخل مع أيض الكربوهيدرات الضرورية لتكاثر وبقاء الكوكسيديا. أظهرت الدراسات المعملية أن امتصاص الثيامين بواسطة أطوار الشيزونت لطفيليات Eimeria tenella وكذلك خلايا الأمعاء للعائل يمكن أن يحدث عن طريق الانتشار السلبي أو من خلال عملية نشطة تعتمد على الطاقة ودرجة الحموضة. يعمل الأمبروليوم على تثبيط النظامين بشكل تنافسي، إلا أن الطفيل أكثر حساسية للأمبروليوم من العائل. تتكون مقاومة الدواء ببطء شديد. يُمتص بسرعة وبشكل كامل في الإثني عشر وينتشر سريعًا في الدم ليصل إلى التركيز العلاجي خلال وقت قصير. وهو فعال ضد أنواع Eimeria في الدجاج (E. tenella, E. acervulina, E. maxima, E. brunetti & E. necatrix) وكذلك في الرومي (E. adenioides, E. dispersa, E. gallopavonis, and E. meleagrimitis).

Taken orally via drinking water.

• Broiler chickens:
  0.5 ml solution / liter of water / day for 5–7 consecutive days.

• Turkeys:
  0.5 ml / 10 kg body weight / day for 5–7 consecutive days of treatment.
